Mayor The 2009 Blacktown City Festival will be out of this world with a range of special events and performances. Blacktown City Festival celebrates the International Year of Astronomy held to mark the 400th anniversary of Galileo turning a telescope to the sky. The Year has been endorsed by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) and provides a chance for the world to rediscover their place in the universe.

The festival will officially open with the popular My Lords and Ladies - Medieval Fayre, May 23 & 24. Nurragingy Reserve will transform into the middle ages complete with combat display, costumes and characters - Kings, Queens, Knights and Jesters.

Residents are encouraged to take a journey through the heritage listed St Bartholomews Church where every step you take will be an adventure. Discover how a haunted past has created the spirits of today and hear true ghost stories told by local historian Hazel Magann. Above & Beyond is one event you should not miss out on!

Rhythm 'N' Beats is a must for music and dance lovers. This cultural extravaganza from local and international performers, Whitereia Performing Arts, Descendance Dance Theatre, Sega Down Under, Nicholas Gentile and the latest sensation to arrive in the dance world, DANCE DANCE DANCE is sure to impress everyone with a beat.

Movies, poetry, Skyworks Planetarium, children's show, fun runs, Search For A Star and an international art exhibition will feature in a week-long celebration. Culminating in a spectacular day of art, craft and entertainment; the Saturday Streets Alive! Parade and festivities will once again bring the City alive.
